From Riches to Reckoning
Series: Esther // The Perfect Plan of the Hidden King Scripture: Esther 6:1– 7:10
Esther 6–7 reveals one of the most dramatic reversals in Scripture. Haman rises to great power and wealth, yet his pride and hatred ultimately lead to his downfall. In a single day, the man who planned to destroy Mordecai is forced to honor him publicly, and the gallows he built for another become the instrument of his own judgment.
Through a series of providential “coincidences”—a sleepless king, a forgotten act of loyalty, and a carefully timed request from Esther—God overturns the schemes of the wicked and preserves His people. Though God’s name is not mentioned in the book of Esther, His sovereign hand is unmistakably guiding every detail.
This sermon explores how pride blinds the heart, how God humbles the arrogant, and how the Lord faithfully defends His people. What appears to be human power and control is ultimately subject to God’s perfect justice. Haman’s story is a sobering reminder that earthly riches and influence cannot shield anyone from the reckoning that comes for those who oppose God’s purposes.
