Lives Changed Through Christ Proclaimed
Series: Acts // From Jerusalem to the Nations Scripture: Acts 2:22–47
This message continues through Acts 2 as Peter proclaims the first great sermon after Pentecost and answers one of the most important questions ever asked: Who is the name by which people must be saved? Beginning with Jesus of Nazareth and building his case from signs, wonders, prophecy, and eyewitness testimony, Peter demonstrates that Jesus is not merely a man—but the long-awaited Christ and Lord. Through Psalm 16 and Psalm 110, we see that even David foretold the resurrection and exaltation of the Messiah.
Peter declares that Jesus was crucified according to the sovereign plan of God, yet humanity remains fully responsible for rejecting Him. But death could not hold Christ, and the risen Lord now reigns at the Father's right hand, having poured out the Holy Spirit exactly as promised. The sermon reaches its climax with the declaration that God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ.
When the crowd is cut to the heart and asks, "What shall we do?" Peter points them to repentance, faith, and the name of Jesus Christ. This message reminds us that the gospel still confronts every heart with the same reality: Christ is King, judgment is coming, and everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.
