Growing In Holiness

Series: 1 Peter // Holy Living in a Hostile World Scripture: 1 Peter 2:1–5

As Christians living as "elect exiles" in a hostile world, how are we called to grow in holiness? In this message from 1 Peter 2:1–5, we see three essential marks of the Christian life: putting away sin, pursuing spiritual growth, and understanding our identity in Christ.

Peter calls believers to have a zero-tolerance policy toward sin, casting aside malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander. He then urges us to long for the pure spiritual milk of God's Word with the same urgency that a newborn infant craves nourishment. Finally, we are reminded of the incredible reality that Christ is the Living Stone, and that believers are being built together into God's spiritual house—a temple where He will dwell with His people forever.

Whether you're struggling against sin, seeking spiritual growth, or needing encouragement in the midst of a hostile world, this passage points us back to the goodness of Christ and the hope of our eternal dwelling with Him.
