How You Respond to Authority Matters

How should Christians respond to government, employers, and other authorities—even when those authorities are unjust?

In 1 Peter 2:13–25, the Apostle Peter reminds believers that our conduct in this world is a powerful testimony to the gospel. As elect exiles, we are called to honor authority, endure unjust suffering, and follow the example of Jesus Christ, who suffered without sin and entrusted Himself to the Father.

When the world watches how Christians respond to hardship, our lives either confirm or contradict the gospel we proclaim. Peter calls us to suffer well—not because suffering is good, but because God uses it for His glory and for the salvation of others.
