Carlos Montoya is President of Ministerios Evangélicos de Las Americas (MEDA, or Evangelical Ministry of the Americas) and a Pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Honduras. MEDA was established in 1998 to train pastors from all evangelical denominations in Honduras and a growing number of other Central American countries. Carlos came to MEDA in 2001. Currently, more than 100 churches send men for training. MEDA’s mission is to promote the exaltation of Jesus Christ in Latin America through the Spirit-filled, powerful, passionate and precise preaching of His Word. This is accomplished by training church leaders through sound biblical exegesis to exalt Christ in their lives and in their preaching. MEDA offers two pastoral training and two church-strengthening programs: The Seminary for Expository Preaching (SEPE), The Institute for Pastoral Ministries, conferences for all church leaders, and The Institute for Women’s ministries.
Carlos was raised in a Christian home. In college God challenged him to decide whether he was truly going to serve God or himself. After pursuing a degree in computer science at the University of North Carolina, Carlos received a Masters in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1989 and married his bride Lori the same year. After Carlos graduated from The Master’s Seminary, he and Lori felt the call to serve the Lord in Honduras.
Carlos and Lori have 7 children.

Melvin Romero

Melvin Romero received his teaching degree from Central American Bible Seminary. He currently pastors at Emanuel Baptist Church in Siguatepeque, Honduras. He believes that the expository preaching of the Word of God in the local church is God’s chosen instrument for the proliferation of the Gospel to the ends of the earth. He has been encouraged to see Emanuel Baptist grow in loving one another and serving the community. Melvin and his wife, Alejandra, are blessed with four children.

Hernan & Gabriela Sierra

Hernan Sierra is the pastor of Iglesia Bíblica La Roca in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. As a young man with a passion for Christ, a powerful voice, and complete fluency in both English and Spanish, Hernan was called upon to translate for conference speakers at Ministerio Evangelicode las Americas (MEDA, Evangelical Ministry of the Americas), a Honduran conference ground and pastoral training seminary. As he translated for renowned pastors and Bible teachers from all over the world, his theology was being transformed. He began to understand the doctrines of grace, Biblical inerrancy, and the sufficiency of Christ in salvation. When he took these truths back to his home church and began to teach them, he met increasing resistance and opposition from his church leadership. Upon his Spirit-compelled refusal to stop preaching the truth of Scripture, they removed him from leadership and relieved him from teaching responsibilities.
As their resistance increased, God simultaneously increased Hernan’s burden to preach and shepherd the flock of God. A short time after being removed, Hernan planted Iglesia Bíblicala Roca. Beginning with a handful of people in his garage, the ministry has continually grown over these years. Hernan and his wife Gabriela have three children.
